#346 - Misery or joviality

Vote Incentive for Tuesday is Up

July 7th, 2008

Shake it up, girl. Here’s a sketch to enjoy of Fang and Zedwig from chapter 39 of Fromage, and having finished chapter 40, I think I am nearly done! Well, not, like 2 chapters away or anything, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe 50 chapters will be the total. Whee! Look for a new chapter to be posted tomorrow.

On and on

July 4th, 2008

00032c73.jpgI deserve an award, seriously, because it’s downright miraculous this comic is done tonight, it being July 4th and all, and what with family in town here and such. By the way, I’d like to wish my fellow yanks a happy Independence Day. Independence, yes, I am grateful for you.

Some stuff! A couple of sweet fanarts by AutumnEstuary: First is of Zedwig, looking very despondent, and the second is the first fanart I know of inspired by Fromage, and is of (younger) Al’bert and Fangline. Enjoy!

Lastly, I realized if I release Fromage at the rate of one chapter a week it’ll take 3/4 of a year to get it out, which is way too long. So for now I’ll put up a chapter twice a week. Chapter Seven is up!

Oops

July 2nd, 2008

This one’s my bad. I got started writing in Fromage tonight, and ended up spending so much time I finally knew there was no way I could get a comic finished tonight. I’m just going to skip and go for Friday. Forgive me, fans!

However, there is a silver lining. After a lot of thought I’ve decided I’m going to publish Fromage online, meaning, I want to make it accessible for everyone to read. I was thinking about it, and realized there’s a lot of really good meat in Fromage that I would prefer all of my readers to know (at least, those who are interested enough to read a  possibly meandering novel about it). It just gives a lot more meaning and depth to everyone on the bad side. And some of the good guys, too. A little. I was concerned about it not being quite as wholesome as most of my writing (naturally because it’s about the bad guys), but after reading half of Interview With the Vampire this week while working on my book, I realized very plainly that my stuff is realllllllllly clean. Yeah.

So anyway, Chapter 6 of Fromage is up for your perusal! I haven’t decided on an update schedule yet, but it’ll probably be a chapter a week.

Look for a comic this Friday, and I updated the vote incentive to give you two panels of a more finished product.

“Tuesday’s Comic” Will Be “Wednesday’s Comic”

July 1st, 2008

Here’s how the conversation went yesterday:

RON: (from other room) Hey Colby, want to know something funny?

COLBY: What’s that?

RON: Tomorrow’s our 14th anniversary!

COLBY: Whaaaaaaaaaa??

We totally forgot. Almost! THE DAY WAS SAVED. Makes me wonder if by the time we get to 23 or so we’ll forget we even got married on a particular day at all. Mostly likely yes, and due to senility, doubtless. But anyway, anniversaries are cool. It’s like a birthday, except you don’t go it alone, and the higher number of years you get to, the better.

Still, I will not be making comics tonight, sorry guys! Thanks for reading anyway!

Vote Incentive for Tuesday’s Comic is Up

Not much else to say, except … this page has been really fun to draw.

I’d like to apologize to the world

June 27th, 2008

fangpunch.jpgI dunno… sometimes a girl just needs a royal rumble, you know what I’m saying?

Somehow, I managed to get this one out on time (barely), even though I’ve had sick children plus family visiting this week. Yay. By the way, my mom was mildly disturbed by Al’bert wielding a mace.

Some awesome things to share! First, remember that Zedwig wallpaper I talked about? Well, I made it, and here it is.

Next! Apparently this week was “Hope Week 2008″ because I got two fanarts of Hope; the first from maelstra-winds and the second from Darth-Almond.  Give ‘em comments!

Lastly, Bahnree made a batch of Lint icons, and they’re awesome. Thanks guys! I’ll be putting all this stuff up on the fanworks page as soon as it isn’t the middle of the night.

Thanks for reading!

Wow!

June 24th, 2008

For going into this wondering if I’d manage to raise more than five bucks, you guys really floored me. It took less than a day to raise the entire amount needed for Lint’s hosting for the 2008-2009 year! I’m pretty humbled and touched by your generosity, and suffice it to say that Ron is impressed.

Now to work on that Zedwig wallpaper! I’ve had an idea strike me today regarding that, and I hope it doesn’t irritate anyone that I stick Fang in it, as well. However, Fang will actually be more of a prop than a co-focus of the wallpaper.

Regarding the vote incentive, I’m not going to post any sketches from the upcoming comic because this is one of those instances when I want the element of surprise, so instead I’ll be posting bits of the new wallpaper as I begin to shape it over this week. Look for that incentive to be up either late tonight or tomorrow sometime.

Lastly, thank you! I actually do have the best readers anywhere.

Step by step

June 23rd, 2008

albert2bio.jpgWhat’s this? An early update? Crazy. It’s good I turned this one out so fast, though, because the next page is going to be very complicated. I could use an extra day for it.

Which doesn’t bring me to my next point, but here it is anyway! I’ve noticed recently that my hosting is about to expire, which I generally gladly pay for on a yearly basis. WELL. This year, the funds in the Purcell household haven’t exactly been flowing like a river, if you know what I mean, and in order to keep Ron happy with his wife’s very time-consuming hobby, I wanted to make an attempt to cover it through donations from you.

So here’s the deal: I need to raise about $120 to cover it, and the deadline is July 3rd. A buck or two from here and there will add up fast, and if we can raise it by then, I’ll make that Zedwig wallpaper people have been clamoring for. Heck, I’ll even make it extra shiny.

Please help me show the most important person in my life that my hobby is not just a burden to society… er, I mean him! Besides… he’s my best proofreader/editor/co-brainstormer/co-author/and so on-er, and what would I do without that? Lint’s very existence would be suspect!

I’ll update the amount raised regularly, and stick the following button on the sidebar in coming days.

EDIT: Never mind, apparently I can’t figure out how to get a donate button to work in my newsbox! So instead, it’s on the right sidebar. Snrkkk.

By the way! Thanks for commenting and voting. Wow, it always amazes me all the positive comments that come out of you guys. Really helps to stop a girl from brooding, which brooding, incidentally, should explain why half of my characters are very proficient brooders.

Lastly (this is getting to be too long of a news post) I’ve got some fanart, both by the awesome Erulisse: First is a lovely pencil sketch of Fang, and the second is a sort-of older one of Zedwig. Good stuff! Go watch her and favorite her and comment on her deviantART page like there’s no tomorrow.

Thanks again for reading!

Meditation in cathedrals of our own

June 20th, 2008

fanggrave.jpgI’m just going to have issues and be broody for a while, so don’t mind me if I’m reclusive-ish. Fortunately, as some of you who pay attention may know, when I’m broody, I’m extremely productive artistically. Two-edged sword.

Got some great fanart this week, of which I am greatly appreciative. One is of Al’bert by Mieko-Kaida, and the other is of Xylic, by InfinitySquired.

Thanks for reading.

Vote Incentive for Friday’s Comic is Uppeth

June 18th, 2008

Oh look! It’s Al’bert’s sister, Camilla, on Fangline’s arm! Maybe she’s bored?
